We are looking for a Senior Structural Analysis Engineer to join our team and be at the forefront of this industry leading technology.  This senior role will be leading the structural analysis on our current and exciting future projects. Additionally, they will be working alongside our industry leading experts in developing new methodologies and toolsets to improve our correlation with the physical data from our existing components, to support the development of our next generation of products.

Responsibilities will include

  • Derive suitable load cases and targets using first principles and prior experiences as well as customer, legislation and internally developed documentation.
  • Working within an integrated, multi-disciplinary design and development team to support design work and ensure that proposed design solutions meet the required static and dynamic load cases.
  • Support pre-contract and concept generation through feasibility to support early-stage analysis and requirements generation.
  • Work to relevant analysis procedures and record analysis results clearly, either internally or to relevant legislative bodies.
  • Lead and develop junior team members.
  • Providing experience with the physics of system behaviours, load paths, expected structural responses, and potential failure modes.
  • Completing hand calculations for mechanical fixings, inserts and bonded joints.
  • Creation, development and running of stress analysis simulations within NX SimCentre, building models from scratch, smartly choose the appropriate analysis techniques and boundary conditions for the problem at hand, balancing speed, accuracy, and ensuring usefulness and appropriateness.
  • Detailed analysis of simulation results and creation of comprehensive post processing.
  • Supporting correlation activities with input to physical testing, calibration and validation.
  • Technical liaison with customers, suppliers, manufacturing, and internal stakeholder.
  • Extend our analysis capability with your specialism (e.g., Structures, Thermal, Composites, bonded joints, linear and non-linear contact).
  • Contribute to continual improvement of analysis processes, analysis tools.
  • Support business development activities and creation of customer proposals.
  • Support project management activities and monitor analysis plans and progress.
  • Balancing multiple concurrent projects, understand your working priorities and clearly show progress, delivery status, and key risks and issues.
  • Management of external CAE resource in conjunction with line manager

We are looking for

  • A degree in mechanical, automotive, marine or aerospace engineering.
  • Extensive experience of stress simulation, implicit, fatigue, linear and non-linear analysis.
  • Experience with both metallic and composite structures would be ideal.
  • FEM in shell and solid structures.
  • Extensive experience with classical hand calculations and creating own calculation sheets.
  • Practical experience of physical testing and correlation would be beneficial.
  • Ideally experience of Siemens SimCenter, however we are open to similar packages – Hyperworks suite, ncode, FEMFAT, LS-Dyna, NASTRAN, FEMAP,
  • A working Knowledge of TeamCenter and Siemens NX would be advantageous.
