London, 14 February 2024 – BAR Technologies and naval architects Deltamarin are proud to unveil new sustainable solutions for shipping at “Sustainable Seas: Towards the Green Transition,” a landmark event aimed at exploring the forefront of technology driving shipping decarbonisation.
The event, which was held yesterday at the prestigious venue of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects in London, marks a significant milestone in the ongoing collaboration efforts of BAR Technologies and Deltamarin towards long term sustainability within the maritime industry.
Guests were welcomed and the partnership was introduced by John Cooper, CEO of BAR Technologies and Mauri Harki, Senior Advisor from Deltamarin.
Attendees had the privilege of hearing from Mr. Jukka Siukosaari, the Finnish Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Finland to the International Maritime Organization, who provided valuable insights into the collaborative efforts between Finland and the UK driving the green transition in shipping.
Technical presentations were then given by Peter Kondratjeff, Senior Naval Architect of Deltamarin and Simon Schofield, CTO of BAR Technologies and included:
- The first unveiling of ‘Aquilo’, a brand-new hull form, a hydrodynamically optimised design that reduces drag.
- A first look at a new AeroBridge®, a revolutionary superstructure design from BAR Technologies that improves ship efficiency by reducing drag and creating thrust.
- An update on BAR Technologies WindWings® and their integration within latest generation ship designs.
- How the combination of the above produces a LR2 with exceptional consumption figures – 12.6 metric tonnes per day at 12.0 knts.
These collaborative initiatives underscore the commitment of both companies to pioneer green shipping innovations, with a focus on decarbonising the shipping sector and enhancing vessel efficiency.
