Naval Architect and Senior Naval Architect

From reducing fuel consumption – measured in tonnes per day – on ocean going ships through our WindWings® technology and advanced efficiency optimisation methods, to enabling the growth of marine electrification with the implementation of our foiling and FOSS solutions.

We are looking for Naval Architects and Senior Naval Architects to join our team and contribute to this pioneering work.  These roles will be instrumental to the design of our current and exciting future projects, working alongside our industry leading experts to take ownership of ship structures and Vessel system integration projects, from concept through to production.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop ship structures and general ship design in compliance with international regulations and Classification Society rules.
  • Collaborate with shipyards and design offices to ensure the successful implementation of designs.
  • Develop and design various vessel systems, considering structural and general design implications.
  • Create and manage the approval process for class-required drawings for ship structures and auxiliary systems.
  • Prepare statutory required technical documentation, such as visibility plans and navigational lights plans.
  • Ensure that all work is completed to an appropriate standard and level of detail, measured against contracted deliverables and tracked against agreed timelines.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members (Senior Level).

 

Required Experience:

  • Knowledge of ship international regulations and Classification Society rules.
  • Proven experience in general ship design and ship structures design.
  • Preferable work experience in a shipyard or design office.
  • Experience in the development and design of various vessel systems.
  • Hands-on experience with the creation and approval process of class-required drawings for ship structures and vessel auxiliary systems.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Commercial awareness with the ability to ensure work is completed to a high standard and within agreed timelines.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team on larger projects.
  • Genuine interest in innovative ideas and technologies for decarbonisation in the maritime industry.
  • Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software and other relevant engineering tools.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Understanding of hydrodynamics and stability principles in ship design.
  • Familiarity with materials science and the selection of appropriate materials for shipbuilding.
  • Leadership and mentorship skills (Senior Level).
